I want to thank all of the caring, generous MBC friends who contributed to making our annual food drive for the Backpack Snack Attack Project such a success! Once again this year, our church has been responsible for providing a full month’s worth of weekend meals and snacks for 60 children in the City of Manassas schools. On Friday, April 10, 2015, we delivered the collected food to Osbourne High School, where it is stored and bagged up for each week’s delivery. Thanks to you and other caring people like you, the City of Manassas will be able to give out weekend food bags two additional months in the school year, longer than they ever have before!
In the summer of 2013, God laid a special burden on my heart for hungry children. He kept pulling me to seek a way that our church family could serve Him in this ministry area, and so I discovered the Backpack Snack Attack Project. I am thrilled and humbled at how He has provided so abundantly as we seek to serve Him in our “Jerusalem.” I especially want to thank Children’s Minister Joanne Hazlett for all her hard work with food logistics, my team of Angel Knowlton, Aaron Pritchard, Rachel Parsons, and Emily Butcher for help with planning and execution, and the Young Adult Ministry for collecting outside the worship services for two Sundays and helping the Children’s Department as they made a missions project out of sorting and counting the donated food.
