Touching Hearts and Minds for Tomorrow

We offer a variety of classes for 2 1/2 year olds through 4 years olds. Manassas Baptist Preschool is in session from the beginning of September until the end of May.  The preschool provides not only morning preschool classes, but extended care options for those who need care in the morning, afternoon or both morning and afternoon after preschool.

We use a combination of the WEE Learn Curriculum, ABeka Phonics, academics, gross motor skills and sensory integration. This combination allows for the development of the whole child.

We hope that you take a look at the information included on this website as well as we invite you to come visit us anytime during Preschool hours to see our facility and meet our staff. We look forward to hearing from you!  For additional information about our program please call Stephanie Roland at 571-222-6677 or you may email Stephanie.

Classroom Structure

Our program for 2 1/2 year olds meets three mornings a week. It provides a first separation and socialization experience for the children. The program emphasizes play with developmentally appropriate toys and activities. It also includes a first introduction to letters, numbers, colors, shapes and the World around us.

The aim of our 3 year old program is to develop visual and auditory discrimination as a foundation for more structured learning situations. We encourage self-expression in music, art and speech development. Learning to respect the rights of others, sharing and accepting responsibilities of one’s own behavior are goals of our program. In addition each child is introduced to the phonetic sound of letters and encouraged to visually recognize them.

Our 4 year old program continuous to stress social, academic and physical development in preparation for kindergarten. Shapes, numbers, letters and phonics are taught in a fun and exciting way. The class structure allows for the development of the whole child. Encouragement of expressive writing and drawing on unlined paper is stressed to develop the proper writing techniques.

What Makes Our Preschool Different?

Faith-based

Depending on what Sunday you visit, Manassas Baptist worship services have people from 25 to 45 nationalities. We believe God loves people from all ethnic backgrounds and from all countries. Twice a month our preschool goes to worship at our chapel where they meet different members of our ministry team who share songs & Bible stories. This is purposely scheduled at the end of the day (alternating Wed. & Thurs.) so family or visitors can join and see how we prepare children for worship at church. MBC ministers take turns so the preschool children & families can meet our staff. We may also have members of our church who lead international mission trips, or have served as missionaries, come to share with our children.

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

International

Once per month preschoolers will meet a member of our church who was born in another country, shares another country’s cultural heritage, or has family members from another country. These guest speakers will visit once (a different person every month/ alternating Wednesdays & Thursdays) to share with the children about that country. They may bring a flag, musical instrument, photos, and more. They will talk about their church in that country. They will be asked to teach either a song or a game from that country as well. As a follow up, the teachers will help expand on such concepts as; weather in that country today, location on a map, or languages that are spoken.  Depending upon the age, this information may be charted on a poster for the class and community to see. Chapel & guest speakers will alternate so the M-W-F and T-TH children can be a part of both. In addition, all students will have Spanish lessons and/or listen to children’s books read in Spanish at least twice a week.

Galatians 3:24 There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus

Health

We help our preschoolers prepare for kindergarten with routines, age-appropriate curriculum and healthy behaviors. Purposeful play, both structured and unstructured, is a component of our curriculum. “Purposeful play” is effective in developing social skills and critical thinking.  Studies have shown that purposeful play for 2-5 year olds leads to school readiness. Preschoolers will learn about self-control and the importance of healthy habits.

I Corinthians 6: 19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?

Love for Learning

Manassas Baptist Preschool complies with all the requirements of the Department of Social Services, Health Department, and Fire Marshall. All necessary paperwork is up to date and on file, and all the inspections are done annually.  Our preschoolers have successfully transitioned from MBP to schools all over our area since 1972. Our classes have a small teacher pupil ratio so each child receives personalized attention. We also provide additional resources to families and constant training for our teachers so they are updated on state requirements and early childhood research. We have an excellent reputation for making children’s first experience in school as positive as possible.
